About Leslie Martinez Counseling
The name Leslie means “holly tree”, a symbol of resilience and protection. Holly trees remain vibrant through harsh winters, representing strength and endurance. In counseling, this symbolism reflects the healing journey- navigating challenges, discovering resilience, and finding hope. My practice is dedicated to providing support and encouragement, helping clients grow and thrive through all seasons of life.
I’m Leslie-I'm here to provide a warm, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings openly. My goal is to walk alongside you as you navigate challenges and discover new perspectives that promote healing and growth.
I use an integrative therapy approach, drawing from various evidence-based methods to tailor our work to your unique needs and goals. It is an honor to walk alongside you on your journey towards mental wholeness. I invite you to reach out whenever you’re ready. Together we can accomplish goals that will lead to a more fulfilling life.
More About My Therapeutic Approach
I specialize in supporting clients navigating depression, anxiety, and trauma-related challenges. Beyond trauma and mood-related concerns, I also offer support for issues including grief, parenting, relationship challenges, self-esteem, self-harm, sexual abuse, stress, substance use, and thought disorders. I am passionate about working with individuals seeking meaningful, transformative growth.
In our initial sessions, I often introduce grounding techniques to help you regulate your emotions, relax your body, and cultivate a sense of safety. I believe that when your body experiences calm, it becomes easier to process and work through difficult experiences. I draw from various therapeutic approaches tailored to your unique needs. I often teach Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills such as mindfulness and distress tolerance. Using a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, I can help you challenge negative beliefs about yourself, others, and the world. Additionally, I take a psychodynamic approach to explore how childhood experiences, family dynamics, and past trauma may influence your current emotional experiences and relational patterns. This integrative approach allows us to deepen self-awareness and build the skills that promote growth. Lastly, I like to incorporate fun into my sessions using Expressive Arts therapy to encourage self expression and exploration. I am committed to providing a compassionate, collaborative space where you feel supported and empowered every step of the way.
